DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY – 5/3/2025

Reflection: The fasting that moves the heart of God

Bible Reading: Isaiah 58:6-9 (6) “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? (7) Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (8) Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. (9) Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness.

Reflection from the Scripture above: It is easy to fast from our favourite food such as fruitcake, cheesecake, steak, etc. It may be that you were advised by your doctor to avoid certain food because of health reasons. Here in Isaiah 85:7, God is calling us to help or give to the needy. Be open to His voice as He leads us to help in many ways those who are in need especially in the Body of Christ.

Prayer Focus:

1. Ask the Lord to guide you as to whom you should bless during this fasting month.

2. Pray and ask the Lord to show the right ways you can be a blessing to others in need e.g. food, shelter, clothing, finance, et cetera as Hebrews 13:2 says “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
