Reflection: Daniel’s prayer of repentance on behalf of the nation of Israel

Bible Reading: Daniel 9:3-7

Daniel 9:3-7 (ACV) And I set my face to LORD God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
And I prayed to LORD my God, and made confession, and said, Oh, LORD, the great and fearful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments,
we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from thy precepts and from thine ordinances,
nor have we hearkened to thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
O LORD, righteousness belongs to thee, but to us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, through all the countries where tho

Reflection on the passage (Daniel 9:3-7):

After Daniel was delivered from the Lion’s den (Daniel 6:21-28), he was promoted by king Darius as governor of the province of Babylon, one of the chief rulers in both the Babylonian and Persian Empires ( Daniel 9:1). Daniel’s high position did not slow down his prayer lifestyle. He knew that God put him at high places in Babylon and Persian Empires. After having powerful dreams and vision from God, Daniel set his     heart to seek God favour in prayer. He knew that God’s people were living in captivity because of their sin against God. Daniel prayed and face toward Jerusalem, he confess the sin of his people, the sin of God’s people in the land of Israel (Daniel 9:3- 19) As result of His intends prayer the angel Gabriel came to him to revealed deeper vision about the future. In Daniel chapter 10:1-21, he continued his prayer with fasting for 21 days. The angle Michael came and help Daniel to fight against the
prince of Persia. Who fight against Daniel in the spiritual realm. We always see
spiritual breakthrough in the bible after God’s people repent and return to God for help.

Prayer Focus:

1. Pray for our Daniel’s in our nation today, that they will be strong in their faith and they will be a salt and light wherever God put them. They will set aside time to pray like Daniel, Pray for God’s protection upon their family, that they will be delivered from all scheme of the evil one.

2. Pray that they will use their position to seek God with all their heart, to fast and pray during this corporate prayer and fasting. We believed that the Lord will
honour their prayers with thousands of believers praying during these 30 days of prayer and fasting.

3. Pray that God will raise up more Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego at strategic places in our nation; that they will give good counsel to our top leaders in our nation.
